Last years Animal Crossing-ish Mysims was a huge success thanks to it's free form gameplay and a set of construction tools that allowed you to make any object look like anything you wanted. Want to give your neighbour a bed that looks like a prison cell? Go right ahead the game wont stop you doing it.
We expected the sequel to be more of the same but infact it has a few new building blocks and a very different experience. MySims Kingdom dispenses with a lot of the random gifts aspects of the original and the process of inviting new residents to the town is gone.
Instead there is a more structured game where you use your building skills to solve problems for the citizens of King Roland's Land which is devided into several islands. Each island has a theme such as futuristic, wild west, olde England and so on, and many of the inhabitants are favourites from the original game.
The problems you have to solve are simple, such as finding parts of a robot on the space age island, then building him a rocket to take a test flight..
I wont tell you any more about how the game unfolds, but we would say that the graphics are more polished and the controls work much better.
Enjoy
